My First NHKA Kartmania Weekend
NHKA Race 4 - Briggs 206 Cadet - Starting Grid
I’m going to use five Fs to describe my first Kartmania!
Focus. There was a lot to pay attention to at the track since this was my first time there. I had to focus on driving the car and not looking at my parents on the side lines. I also had to pay attention to bringing my eyes up to look down the track and not at what was right in front of me.
Feel. I felt sweaty all day even when it was chilly outside. It was my first time wearing my racing suit and I also felt a bit of pressure too.
Find. I had to find a good driving line and work on it. My dad says all of my laps during the race were within a second of each other and that’s good.
Familiarize. It was my first time racing with NHKA and at Canaan Motor Club. I had to learn the track and take the safety course three times, but now I feel safe.
Fun. I had a lot of fun racing outside, playing games with the other racers, and swimming in the creek next to the track. It reminded me of when I watch Drive to Survive and they show old pictures of F1 drivers who used to kart together as kids. We are all now better friends who had fun together. I hope they show these pictures when we’re racing as grownups.
